Required Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)

Maine Licenses:

  • Valid Maine driver’s license (within one month of employment)
  • Maine Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license or Maine Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) license

Certifications:

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (BCLS) 

Acquired within six months of employment:

  • Ambulance Vehicles Operators Course (AVOC)
  • International Trauma Life support (ITLS)
  • Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers (PEPP)
  • Geriatric Education for Emergency Medical Services (GEMS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) [AEMT]

Acquired within three months of employment:

  • FEMA IS-700: NIMS, An Introduction
  • FEMA ICS-100: Introduction to ICS
  • Hazardous Materials Awareness
  • Weapons of Mass Destruction Awareness

Preferred Qualifications

  • A.S. Emergency Medical Technology
  • Computer literate in Microsoft applications
  • Knowledge of process improvement

Delta Ambulance, the most trusted mobile healthcare organization in Maine, is seeking qualified and eager candidates for our immediate full-time and per diem EMT-B openings. EMT starting salary is $16.25/hr (AEMT $18.00) with a scale based on experience. We also offer a $4.00 differential for nights and weekends plus a great benefits package.

The EMT-Basic/AEMT performs a variety of functions associated with the delivery of pre-hospital emergency care and routine ambulance transfers. The EMT-Basic performs a primarily supportive role to the Paramedic but may be called upon to perform basic level care in a tiered pre-hospital setting or take on a clinical leadership role in the absence of the Paramedic during BLS non-emergent ambulance transfers. Personnel with this position designation are required to maintain specialized education and regularly have the opportunity to practice at their license level.

Delta Ambulance provides emergency care services to 15 communities in the Kennebec County region as well as non-emergent transfers for 2 hospital systems and multiple continuing care facilities and nursing homes.
