Delta Ambulance Breaks Ground
June 28, 2011Waterville
Delta Ambulance conducted a ground breaking ceremony at the site
of its new base at 29 Chase Avenue in Waterville. This will replace
the current quarters in Seton Hospital where they have been housed
since 1972. The project is being built on land donated
to Delta by MaineGeneral, a donation which allowed Delta to "get
the plans rolling".
The ground has been cleared, prepped and foundation work has already
begun. Plans for the new 18,000 square foot facility include high
efficiency lighting, LED outside lighting, geothermal heat in-floor
radiant heating system as well as geothermal cooling. The building
will house duty crews, administrative offices as well as 24-hour dispatch,
The garage space is large enough to get all of the equipment indoors.
The location is ideal in that its placement will not change traffic
patterns or response times.
"After years of planning, everyone here at Delta Ambulance
is excited to see our dream of a new building become reality. Of course
it would still be a dream if not for the dedication of our employees
and expert guidance from our Board of Directors." said Tim
Beals, Delta's executive director.
Delta Ambulance is a not-for-profit (501c-3) Full-service Paramedic
Ambulance serving central Maine from bases in Waterville and Augusta.
