Delta Launches Critical Care Transport Team

Critical patients who must be transported between hospitals require a level of care that is different from routine hospital transfer or emergency field patients.  The Delta Ambulance Critical Care Transport Program is designed to provide advanced care and management during the transport of these patients from one hospital to another.
Delta’s Critical Care Transport Team receives advanced education in the management of the critical care patient. This education includes extensive study in the pathophysiology and management of Respiratory, Cardiac, Hemodynamic, Gastrointentinal, Genitourinary, Renal, and Neurological systems as well as instruction in the skills and procedures required to perform Surgical Airway Management, Hemodynamic Monitoring, and Pharmacological interventions in the complex environment of the transport ambulance. The Critical Care program education is administered through the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and is accredited by the Continuing Education Coordinating Board of Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS).  The Team, made up of an EMT, Paramedic, and Registered Nurse, continues to maintain and polish their skills through on-going education and weekly clinical assignments at local hospital critical care units.

The Team is provided with the finest patient care equipment available for both invasive and non-invasive cardiac, respiratory, and circulatory monitoring, assisted ventilation, and medication administration.

The Delta Critical Care Transport Team is available 24 hours a day .
