Bethel Maine
Friday morning June 15th,
between 1600 and 1700 bicyclists and 300 support volunteers will set out
from Sunday River on the Annual 3 day Trek Across Maine (R), a celebratory
fundraising event for the American Lung Association of Maine.
They will travel about 170 miles as they bicycle to Belfast (via Farmington
and Waterville) for arrival on Sunday. The Lung Association provides complete
support for the riders, refreshments, lodging, camping, mechanical support.
Delta Ambulance of Waterville
and Augusta once again is sponsoring the medical support coverage: four
medically equipped vans and twentyeight cycling medics.
"The Trek is our major contribution
to Lung Health in Maine. Our goal is to help riders complete the Trek,
which can be a grueling effort for many --- if the weather doesn't cooperate"
says Bill McKenna, the company's Director of Community Relations. "We'll
provide medical volunteers, a communications network, medical care and,
when necessary, help riders to decide if they can continue. In the event
of an accident, folks will immediately have what they need."
Delta appreciates the opportunity
of participating in this event and the support received from the medic
volunteers, Unicel Cellular, Hussey Communications, JW Products, and AutoTrim
Design.
